The internet is littered with evil intentions and malicious - albeit smart and brilliant - plotters. They are constantly in the prowl for innocent, unprotected computers. Internet hackers use all sorts of codes such as viruses, worms, and Trojans, to crack into and ruin your computer. You must therefore be prepared to block them off from ever entering your computer's system at all times.
It is often said that the best cure is prevention. And the saying applies to your computers. If you want to protect your computer from the threat of viruses, worms, Trojans, and other malicious code, one of the best options to take is setting up a firewall.

Important documents are usually placed in a safe and are not scattered just anywhere. The safe definitely has locks which you never forget to fasten soon after you finish what it is that you have to do with the contents of the safe. You may sometimes ask yourself why you even bother to go through all these hassles just for those important documents.
The main reason behind all these compulsions to attain maximum security is confidentiality. Those documents contain information that is not supposed to be shared to everyone. You maintain the availability of the information but only to expected audiences. By also trying to conceal the information from irrelevant people, you ensure that it remains correct and unchanged unless such changes are appropriate and authorized.

Those who have already tried reformatting their computers often find the entire process quite an ordeal. One, because it is said to be very, very slow. Another one is the fact that even the materials intended to make the process easier and more effective do not seem to work well.
Reformatting is even slower if you have to reinstall all applications. That is why some suggest that you just point out exactly what needs to be reinstalled so that it will not take so much time. Others also complain about Windows which seems to give users more problems as compared to Mac/PC.

One of the essential steps to protecting your privacy is understanding how to read a privacy policy.
Privacy policies should be made available in some form anytime you are asked to provide personal information. Financial institutions, health facilities or other businesses that collect your information can be asked to show you their privacy policy before you give them your information.
If the company does not have privacy policy consider doing business elsewhere. It is a show of respect to customers to tell them how their information will be used.

One of the most popular computer identity theft methods today is phishing. Spelled in true hacker fashion, phishing means, well, fishing by baiting people to divulge their personal data. This mode of computer identity theft uses two kinds of bait.
The first type of bait would be an e-mail asking you to give your personal data (e.g., credit card number, password, etc.) in an e-mail reply.
The second kind of bait used in this type of computer identity theft is a spoofed website, which appears to be an exact replica of a trusted site.
